While raising her girls alone, Isabelle also begins building a career as a successful art consultant. Then one final turn of fate brings a past secret to light, bonds mother and daughters closer, and turns a challenge into a blessing. With the help of sponsors, they make their way to New York. In order not to be separated, they allow their friendship to blossom into love and marriage, and start a new life on the Lower East Side, working at grueling, poorly paid jobs.

Decades later, through talent, faith, fortune, and relentless hard work, Jakob has achieved success in the diamond business, invested in real estate in New York, and shown his son, Max, that America is truly the land of opportunity. Max is a rising star, a graduate of Harvard with friends among the wealthiest, most ambitious families in the world.

And while his parents were thrown together by chance, Max chooses a perfect bride to start the perfect American family. An opulent society wedding. A honeymoon in Tahiti. A palatial home in Greenwich.

The Sins of the Mother

But after the birth of children, and with a failing marriage, he can no longer deny that his wife is not the woman he thought she was. All of the historical books are thoroughly researched.

And in the contemporary books, we research locations, cities, industries, legal and medical details, and all the elements that go into the books. The research is as accurate as humanly possible, and literally years of work go into the research for each book. She repeats the same idea over and over again as if the reader is s I used to LOVE Danielle Steel books- my go to for guilty pleasure reading She repeats the same idea over and over again as if the reader is slow and doesn't get it the first 5 times she mentions that Olivia was driven but a loving mother, that her mother didn't mind, she loved taking care of her children, that her husband was so loving and didn't mind being the wind beneath her wings.

They're not even difficult concepts that the reader might need a couple of renditions to grasp. It sort of feels insulting of the reader's intelligence. It irked me that problems were resolved so easily for all the characters. Besides the minor conflicts over which any respectable protagonists must endure and triumph, the victories just came so easily.

It only took minor conflicts and short tense moments then all of it was resolved. For example, Liz's attempt to sell her manuscript not only lands her a fat book deal the most lucrative deal the agent has been able to land but a movie deal AND hot agent to boot! The second half moves along at a steady pace.

Maybe it is just me, on my own beliefs of motherhood. As I strongly believe that children need there mothers. Anyway, the story did nothing for me.

If anything, it just made me sad.

Ms Steele are you trying to tell us what a more "modern" family is in ? If that is the case, it is not what I am looking for. The last time I read a Danielle Steele book was about 30 years ago. It was a decent "beach read," a lot of fluff, but at least there was a plot.

The Sins of the Mother was a selection by one of my book clubs. I am usually a good book club member.

Before now I have read every book to the end, and even when it was outside of my comfort zone, I could find something worthy of discussion. So much repetition and rehashing the issues of each of the children of Olivia Grayson, and not a plot in sight.

No particular conflict, no specific protagonist or antagonist. Why bother? I enjoyed this novel by Danielle Steel and recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the author. Although I have read many of her books and she is high on my list of authors I enjoy reading, I didn't bother sampling the book, just went ahead and purchased it.

Had I done so, as I have with all other books purchased through amazon, I probably wouldn't have bought this one. The main character Mother I felt hadn't really committed any major sins except that she was a workaholic and her business was more important to her than being a full time mum to her 4 children.

At the end of the day she made up for her sins and the children were not in anyway really affected by her lack of being there, whilst they were growing up. After all they all turned out ok in the long run.

Good but I have read Danielle's other books which were really good. I love all of Danielle Steel's books. I have many.

But the Sins of the Mother was extraordinary, one of my favorites!! I could not put it down. It's a wonderful story, a must read! Danielle Steel's words are so gripping and keep you involved in her stories from start to finish.

The Sins of the Mother is a beautiful story and it kept me fascinated from start to finish. Sometimes I wish she would write a part II to many of her books because you just want more! This is not the worst book written by Danielle Steele, neither is it her best. I have mixed feelings.

I was drawn into the story early on, at the same time that I was disgusted by the decadent lifestyle of this family, particularly at a time when there are so many people out of work and those who have lost their homes because of our terrible economy. It also seemed to me that everything came together perfectly at the end and too quickly to be realistic.

There are just too many mothers out there who can attest to the fact that it is just not that easy!

This was a light, fluffy, piece of fiction without much substance and nothing to distinguish it from thousands of other novels except that it happened to be written by Danielle Steel. Just Okay!!! See all 1, reviews.

The Wedding: Until the End of Time: Coming Out:Danielle Steele is like that annoying friend that talks too much. Yes, Liz has failed in her many previous attempts to write a successful book, but now that the tide has turned, nothing seems to go wrong in her life.

Thanks for telling us about the problem. Her younger daughter, Cassie, a hip London music producer, refuses the invitation altogether, as she does every year. To do each character justice, only a saga might have been better suited and with much less repetition of the same sentence!
