Many students transfer to USC as sophomores after demonstrating strong academic preparation during their freshman year. A significant aspect of demonstrating preparation for USC, where nearly all students are restricted from part-time enrollment, is showing that you can handle full-time college coursework over a full academic year.
For students attending semester calendar schools, this means the completion of around 30 transferable semester units between the fall and spring terms. For students at quarter schools, full-time status requires completion of roughly 45 transferable quarter units across the three terms that make up the academic year: fall, winter, and spring.
A rule of thumb is that, in most cases, you should be completing four courses per term excluding summer. There are exceptions, though. We understand that some students are unable to maintain consistent full-time enrollment due to obligations at work or home.
These students should explain their part-time status along with any other necessary context, such as gaps in enrollment somewhere within their application. Taking the right courses There are a few resources that you should utilize in selecting your courses.
Transfer Planning Guide : a tool that provides students attending California community colleges or a select few four-year institutions with a transfer course plan. We have two: lower-division Writing and Intermediate Algebra, both of which must be completed with a grade of C or higher.
You must satisfy both of these requirements by the conclusion of the spring in which you apply in order to receive transfer consideration.
Our math requirement can be satisfied through completion of Intermediate Algebra in college or any higher level college math course, such as Pre-calculus. However, students can also meet this requirement through their high school math courses.
If you earned a C or better in each term of Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II, then you are not required to take additional math before transferring, unless it is specifically required for your major. I would also like to incorporate ideas from the student body by being both an effective listener and an effective communicator.
My Sophomore Year
I would also like to incorporate as much service as possible into Student Council next year. Since we are such a large organization, I believe that we have the resources to help the Mount Carmel community even more through providing assistance to anyone who needs it. What is your favorite thing about Mount Carmel?
As simple as it sounds, my favorite thing about Mount Carmel is the people. Throughout my years here, I have grown more in my friendships than I ever would have known. I originally came from a very small elementary school and when I first started at MCA, suddenly I feared becoming a small fish in a big pond.
Through the encouraging students and faculty at MCA, I quickly realized that there are no big or small fish; everyone cares for everyone. Even as an incoming 8th grader at Cub Connection, I felt encouraged and inspired by the upperclassmen, which has helped me develop into the person I am today.
With that being said, the people at Mount Carmel are some of the funniest, kindest, and most creative people I have ever met, which is constant motivation for me to continue to improve myself. How do you act as a positive example to other students at MCA?
Luckily, I was elected and that is where my journey began. Student Council has taught me to be more outgoing, collaborative, organized, and creative.
I believe that my growth throughout my years here could serve as a positive example to other students. Why should your peers vote for you? What qualifications do you have?
The description of My Sophomore Year By: Katie Such [Genre: Romance]
Are there any awards you have received? I have been an active member of Student Council for 4 years, serving as a homeroom representative for 3 years and the Student Council Secretary this past year. My sophomore year, I also served as the spirit point committee head. Additionally, I have received 3 outstanding member awards for Student Council during my years as a representative. I believe that having the unique experience of previously serving as a Student Council officer has given me a different perspective, allowing me to see the flaws of this past year along with the successes.
This year I consciously aimed to continue to grow as a leader so I can best serve Mount Carmel. By doing so, I attended a number of leadership workshops in my free time both during the summer and throughout the school year.
This experience allows me to work with other schools in our area and gain new ideas in order to further develop our Student Council.
Throughout my years at Mount Carmel, I have learned the importance of service in everything that I do. Through being an Ambassador, I have learned a lot about what it means to specifically serve Mount Carmel as a school and I have applied that to my work as a member of Student Council.
I have learned that there is so much more to being a successful leader than putting your ideas into action; leaders must be active listeners and aim to reach the goals of the student body. As President, I would like to continue to grow as a servant leader by serving both the student body, the faculty, and administration as best I can. Be specific about strategies for time management.
This past year I was extremely involved, which forced me to learn more than I ever thought I could learn about time management skills. I learned to prioritize my tasks and not waste a second of the day.
Last year as Secretary, I was responsible for organizing Student Government and keeping an accurate record of the requirements for Student Government members, as well was working as a team alongside the other 5 Executive Board members, which allowed me to expand my organization skills. These experiences have allowed me to become experienced in several aspects of Student Government.
Cotton also helped me finalize this essay to perfection. I spread out mnms to represent the germanitivum, and so on. Even as an incoming 8th grader at Cub Connection, I felt encouraged and inspired by the upperclassmen, which has helped me develop into the person I am today. We understand that some students are unable to maintain consistent full-time enrollment due to obligations at work or home.
Don't worry about the negativity that others say.
