Teaching my little girl. Cooking for my princess. Which means She's the nanny. And that makes her completely off-limits.
But it doesn't stop me from wanting her. All of her. The other nannies in this city don't call him the Sexy One for nothing. My boss, the amazingly wonderful single father to the girl I take care of every day is ridiculously hot, like movie star levels with those arms, and those eyes, and that body. Not to mention the way he dotes on his little girl melts me all over. But what really makes my knees weak are the times when his gaze lingers on me.

Book 3 - The Hot One At first glance, stripping naked at my ex-girlfriend's place of work might not seem like the brightest way to win her heart again. But trust me on this count—she always liked me best without any clothes on.
And sometimes you have to play to your strengths when you're fighting an uphill battle. As a lawyer, I know how to fight, and I'm prepared to fight hard for her.
Because sometimes you need a second chance at first love. He's the one who got away. The nerve of Tyler Nichols to reappear like that at my job, showing off his rock-hard body that drove me wild far too many nights. That man with his knowing grin and mischievous eyes is nothing but a cocky jerk to saunter back into my life. Except, what if he's not. I've tried like hell to forget him, but maybe I'm cursed to remember the guy I fell madly in love with eight years ago. After all, how do you resist the hot one.
When we danced into the night, my mind raced far ahead, entertaining all the possibilities I'd longed for. And later, when Cooper told me he'd won the starting quarterback job before he shared the news with anyone else, I started to believe we could be more.

I've kept my pants zipped all season long because nothing's more important than leading my team to victory every week.
Except maybe escaping from the team owner's recently-widowed and handsy-as-hell sister who's dead set on winning more than a date with me. Enter Violet and a well-placed Hail Mary.
She's my best friend's sister with a smile as sweet as cherry pie and a mind that runs quicker than the yard-dash. After Violet saves the day with the highest bid, I don't even give her a two-minute warning before I kiss her in front of the whole crowd and then announce that she's my girlfriend. Which would be fine except my agent tells me we have to keep up the act while he's negotiating my contract.
Violet takes one for the team and pretends to be mine, but our boyfriend-girlfriend scrimmage quickly turns into a full contact sport, and I want it to go into overtime. The problem is--I've been riding the bench for years.
How can a guy like me, who finally has a chance to prove his worth on the field, convince the girl she's most valuable to his heart?
As the team's publicist, I need a football player to be the face of our charity calendar, and Jones Beckett needs a savvy PR woman to manage his new sponsorship deal. And never ever fall for one. No matter how charming, big-hearted and devilishly clever the man is.
But you know what they say about best laid plans That's against the rules, and now what seemed like a bright idea has turned into a dangerously forbidden one. It was supposed to be an I-scratch-her-back-she-scratched-mine kind of arrangement. And man, did Jillian ever drag her nails down my back on one hell of a hot night. Okay fine, it was several hot nights on the road. Now we're back in town and it's time to set the play clock back to when we were simply player and publicist. Given the way the last few years have gone, I can't risk this deal.
Trouble is, I want more than than just another night with her. What's a guy to do when he's always been most likely to score, but the woman he's falling for is way off limits? She knows she has to find something else to do with her life, so when she gets a call from Wayne, her first instinct is to turn him down. But after hearing about the young boy who has lost his mother, she caves.
Now that Wayne has a nanny, he intends to lead his own life again. After temporarily enjoying having a woman and a kid, he intends to give them both up. After his completely selfish wife, who wanted nothing to do with his ranch or their daughter, divorced him, he truly believes there is no woman out there for him.

I'd kinda like them back. From the opening scene, I was captivated by the unnamed narrator's story, which is apparently based on the CHERRY grabbed me by the ladyballs, twisted, and never let go.
From the opening scene, I was captivated by the unnamed narrator's story, which is apparently based on the author's life. I'd really like to sit down and talk to him. I imagine he'd make fascinating dinner company. This book conjured every emotion on the spectrum. One minute I'd laugh, the next, I'd be angry, and then, I'd cry. How does a person sink to such depths as this?
The narrator seems to have had a decent home life growing up. His parents had money. They didn't treat him badly. He was able to go to college.
Yet, he chose a life steeped in the mire of drugs, sex, and pervasive apathy about anything other than heroin. The part about his time in Iraq hit me pretty hard. There were horrors galore--violence, racism, general shittiness. The narrator never seemed to let his experiences there bother him much on the outside, but it's clear that it affected him deeply on the inside.
They treated human beings in Iraq like objects to be toyed with, fucked with, intimidated, and disposed of. It was disgusting. If the parts of the story from Iraq are anywhere close to true, I have zero respect for the U. He made military people look like awful human beings. If they'd been anywhere else in the world and done that shit, they'd be in jail. Or executed.
Some of these guys were hardcore murderers who didn't give a fuck who they killed. They just wanted to kill someone. Serial killers in the making. They were horrible, horrible people.
Then when he got home His portrayal of heroin addiction was gut-wrenching. And then came the bank robberies.
For what? More heroin. By the time I finished the book, I was fucking exhausted and depressed that any human being could sink this low and not give a fuck about finding enough hope and strength to change anything. That was the bottom line. None of them cared. The entire undercurrent of the book was apathy, and it never let up from the first chapter to the very last.
It made my heart hurt. The message is clear: Same goes for depression and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Was this book good? Overall, it was excellent. But it was a damn hard read. His was one of the best performances I've ever heard in an audiobook. I really enjoyed him. If you have a strong stomach and don't mind getting a little a lot? But be prepared for the fallout. This one's a hope killer. It's a Ragnarok of a good time. Amazon UK: Amazon CA: Amazon AU: Excellent source material for researching my Asgard Awakening series.
I have more notes than I know what to do with. He married the Sibyl Sif , who produced a long line of heirs that later included Odin, who married Frigg.
To conclude, the various experiments discussed above either did not address whether nonhuman animals can generalize to novel strings having only a structural similarity to the training strings or have not provided unambiguous evidence that they can do so 24 , Therefore, it is still an open question whether they can show the same abstraction shown by infants in the study of Marcus et al.
Addressing this question is important, not only in the context of grammar learning experiments but also for understanding animal cognition more generally. This type of abstraction is a cognitively advanced ability, comparable to a relational or analogical match-to-sample task as examined in studies on visual pattern abstraction. In a normal match-to-sample task, animals can obtain a reward by choosing from two alternatives the object that matches the one shown previously.
However, in a relational match-to-sample task an animal is trained with pairs of stimuli bearing a particular relation to each other, for instance being either the same as e. Next they are tested with pairs of novel items that do not share a physical resemblance with the training stimuli, but do share the same underlying structure, such as CC or CD.
Such a task thus requires the matching of relations between relations 29 — Similarly, learning to identify correct sequences of novel auditory items, such as an XYX or XXY structure, requires that the animal first detects that the relation between the X and Y items differs in the XYX and XXY samples and next abstracts this relation to novel samples.
One species we used is the zebra finch. Like humans, zebra finches are vocal learners.
Their songs consist of ordered, rapidly produced elements. They are a widely used model species for comparative studies on speech and language 34 as well as for auditory learning In addition, we used budgerigars, a representative of another vocal-learning clade, the parrots. Budgerigars are vocal learners with more vocal variation than zebra finches and an open-ended learning capacity.
This parrot species produces long and flexible warble songs that vary both in the sequential structure as well as in the shape and duration of elements 35 , Even with this strong variation, budgerigars are able to detect minor changes in familiar songs Budgerigars also are frequently used in studies on auditory learning.
Although zebra finches and budgerigars have similar hearing abilities, a comparative study showed that budgerigars are better at identifying acoustic stimuli Thus far, budgerigars have not been tested in an artificial grammar learning task, making it of interest to compare them to zebra finches.
A comparison of species belonging to these two distinct clades also is of interest because the previously mentioned studies comparing another parrot species, the kea, with pigeons also a different clade revealed that these species used very different strategies to distinguish between two string sets consisting of different visual patterns 14 , All keas showed the same consistent strategy, but the pigeons showed no consistent pattern at either the species or individual level As mentioned above, previous experiments on zebra finches showed a considerable variety in strategies in distinguishing auditory strings 9 , 15 , 16 and, as parrots have not yet been tested in an auditory artificial grammar paradigm, our experiment may reveal whether here too the parrot species behaves differently.
These triplets consisted of zebra finch song elements or, in an additional zebra finch experiment, artificial sounds Fig. After reaching the criterion for reliable discrimination of the training stimuli Methods , all birds received six different sets of test stimuli, henceforth described as tests 1—6.
Test 1 consisted of triplets also used during the training, but now without reinforcement, providing the control condition. The stimuli used in tests 2—5 consisted of items that also occurred in the training stimuli but were arranged in new combinations. Test 6 consisted of triplets involving items that had not been used for the training stimuli. These different tests give rise to different predictions about how the test stimuli should be classified, depending on what the subject learned during training. But lately he's been giving me the look.
