Was it true? He would wait for the hard evidence. He would need to see it with his own eyes. Was it possible that the woman who had warmed his heart and his bed for the last several months had secretly been stabbing him in the back? One Brock strode down the hallway of the cushy San Francisco North Bay condominium and cynically wondered how Elle could afford such luxury.

He paid her well, but not this well. No, he knew exactly how she could afford it, he thought, tightening his jaw. Elle, his assistant—his lover—had sold him out.

The time had come for confrontation. With controlled anger, he narrowed his eyes as he knocked on her door on a sunny Saturday morning. He counted as he waited. The door swung open and the woman who had made love to him with no holds barred stared up at him with a pale face and plum lips.

Her dark brown hair was sexy-sleep disheveled and her blue eyes rounded in surprise at him. Her skin paled even more and she covered her mouth. Disconcerted, he stared after her. What the hell? Stepping inside the small but elegant foyer, he closed the door behind him and walked a few steps down the hallway. He heard the unmistakable sound of Elle losing her breakfast as he glanced at his watch.

Despite his overriding fury, he felt a twinge of pity.

Minutes later, she came out of the bathroom, still pale. She spotted him as she lifted her hand to her forehead and sighed, looking away. Brock followed her as she walked down the hallway and turned into a moderate-sized kitchen decorated in shades of rust and cream. The contrast of the cream ceramic tile against her cherry-colored toenails emphasized her femininity.

He remembered the sight of her naked from head to toe, whispering his name over and over as he made her his, driving both of them into pure pleasure. He pushed aside the memory. Realization shot through him like a round from a forty-five. He sucked in a quick breath. Brock had learned long ago not to ignore what that churning sensation inside him had to say. It had saved him personally and professionally too many times to count.

She closed her eyes and turned away from him. He swallowed a thousand oaths. The woman who had betrayed him carried his child.

Billionaire's Marriage Bargain

He raked his hand through his hair. He still wanted to. I prepared myself to dislike Alex, actually. I find I don't tend to care for the rich playboy type in contemporary romances.

They can be a little too perfect for me: Alex did have heart, even if it was buried. He really didn't intend to fall for Mallory. He got to know Mallory as a favor This was a pleasant, lighter read. He got to know Mallory as a favor to her father, who he was courting to get investors for his latest resort venture. However, he found himself being drawn to the sweet, luscious young woman, who seemed so proper but had a wild streak.

He was on the arrogant side, but it wasn't excessive or a turn-off for me. I did enjoy the courtship between Alex and Mallory. I like when the hero does have to do some courting and convincing, instead of the heroine falling instantly into his bed and in love that is not returned. It's more of an interesting read for me this way. Mallory was a bit overly insecure. I wasn't sure exactly why. I suppose it was because of the loss her family had suffered. Her mother had withdrawn after the death of her brother, but her father was very doting, so she did get attention.

She was treated more like an only child, so I would expected her to be a little more confident. She couldn't believe that Alex would be interested in her, especially long-term. That might be an issue for some readers who don't like insecure heroines. I like that Alex was attentive and affirming to her, even though he believed that his career would always be the most important thing to him, even his wife.

His actions showed differently. Leanne Banks wrote a charming book here. It's silly to complain about that with a less than page novel, so I won't quibble. Although I wouldn't reach for this if I wanted an intense, dramatic, meaty romance, this was not too fluffy; and the romantic and steamy moments were well done.

Something really stupid and hilarious just happened. And when I said that I mean I realized I read the wrong book after finishing this book and was about to rate it on Goodreads and realized I downloaded the wrong book in the first place! That's why all the reviews of Probst's The Marriage Bargain are so confusing and make no sense at all!

Anyway, I actually really l Okay, let me clear myself out. Anyway, I actually really liked this book!

It was a very short read, I finished it in an hour and a half! I do wish that the book was somehow longer, and that more things could happen and we as readers can see the development of the characters and their relationships. Everything in this book was so fast, I thought it was a joke.

One minute, the two main characters - Alex and Mallory - meet. Another minute, they fall in love. About eight pages I swear! I've always liked authors that keep their stories fun and concise, but this is way too short it's ridiculous! I really do think if it was somehow longer, I will have liked both Mallory and Alex much more. They are such lovable characters, too bad there wasn't enough room for any character development or stories that might make readers know more and grow accustomed to the characters!

However, I did cry. Believe it or not! As I said, ridiculous. I did cry when Alex fortunately agrees to divorce Mallory after a month or two, seriously , I don't know why it was so emotional but when Mallory finally admits she loves him, her monologue is full of absolute sincerity.

I feel as if her words touched me in a way that I truly and honestly believe what she says.

She is also a very relatable character, the fact that she feels trapped for always being overprotected by her father, how completely heartbroken she is to know that Alex may not have married her for love but instead her money.

Not to mention, how truly brave of her to stand up for herself and admit with dignity that she is in love with a man who just agreed to divorce her and that she wouldn't marry him in the first place if she doesn't want to. I just think it was really honest on her part to lower her guard and show her true feelings even if there was a possibility of rejection. It was certainly risky but she doesn't care.

There was no annoying stupidity and unnecessary drama maybe because there wasn't enough space! It's just sad how the book wasn't longer to see how both Alex and Mallory the climax of the story much more convincing and believable. Despite the ridiculous shortness, the author is able to make readers like me grow fond of the characters, and I have to credit Banks on this.

Overall, I give it a three-star for a fun quick read but an extra of one star that it did make me cry a few tear drops in the end. View 2 comments. I liked this story. Very fun and lovely.

Unless…that very woman is about to be the mother of a Maddox heir? In order for her mother to get the medical treatments she needs, Elle Linton must steal secrets from her boss.

Can you imagine the angst you would feel if you were put in that situation? This story was full of vibrant emotions that pulled me from one end of the spectrum to the other. The betrayal the hero experiences, the morning sickness Elle suffers, their struggle to make a life together… I was thrilled to write the resolution to this exciting multi-author series.

Her eyelids were closed, her dark lashes hiding the warm sensuality of her blue eyes.

His fingertips knew the feel of everything beneath that sheet— every rib, the curve of her waist and lower still, the wet, velvet secrets that encased him, stroked him and plunged him into another world.

Elle was the natural next choice. A few late nights with sandwiches had progressed to wine and gourmet delivery. A couple of innocent brushes against her body had left him hard with longing. He remembered the night everything had changed between them as if it were five minutes ago….

He should tell Elle she could leave, he thought, opening the door to his office. She had been standing right outside.

Giving a smothered sound of surprise, she dropped the files on the floor. The one he always pushed aside.

She stumbled and he instinctively pulled her against him. Her eyes met his and irresistible electricity crackled between them.

He was achingly aware of her breasts against his chest and the sensation of her thighs on either side of his leg as he held her upright. She wore a black pencil skirt with a back vent, her legs were bare, her feet in a pair of black heels that made it difficult to tear his gaze from her backside throughout the day. If she were another woman, he would lower his head and take her mouth. He would pull her blouse free and slide his hands over her breasts, savoring the touch of her naked skin.

She closed her eyes. Do you ever get tired of that word? She opened her mouth in protest. He swore. She tugged his tie loose and pulled open his shirt, buttons cascading to the floor. Brock stared down at her as she slept peacefully. He would meet with the P. Now he was stuck with a nauseating sense of betrayal.
