Images and graphics in ebooks are hard to get right. The DIY guide for artists who want to increase their following and stream counts on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and all streaming services. Referred to by many . A really important part of the process here is to have a nice eBook .. What the tyrant says is true, I am working hard to make my work flow.

People are downloading your eBook because they want to figure out how to do something. For this reason you should start with the end result that they are looking for and work your way backwards.

2. Place a tab on your page

Sometimes I will write the contents page first because it gives me a good plan. Other times I will just write like crazy and worry about the format later. Have a look at all of my posts here on Blog Tyrant. They have two types of headers main and sub and they have lots of lists and paragraphs.

The reason for this is because people hate digesting large lumps of content. While long form content is getting more popular, it needs to be formatted in a scan-able way. Remember, when using photos you need to make sure you purchase the correct license and get permission.

You also want to avoid stock photography that has been used thousands of times before. If you are really specific about what you want photos of or if you need your own product in there somewhere then you are going to have to hire your own photographer. And this is expensive.

Taking the photos yourself on the family camera is never a good idea because they generally look really amateurish. You really only need to use a simple font like Arial, Verdana or Georgia at size 14 or 16 and then a simple color scheme like black with one other.

Communicating in a Remote Team

Less is always more in the design field. You should also avoid bright reds for text as it looks spammy. The next step is to get your eBook proofread by someone who is not afraid to give you harsh feedback.

Think professional writers or other people in your industry. The point is not so much to find spelling mistakes although that is important but to figure out whether it is solving problems, coherent, etc..

You really need someone to be able to give you the hard truths about your writing style and execution of ideas. A really important part of the process here is to have a nice eBook cover to promote your PDF file.

These things are great because they increase the perceived value of the product by making it seem like something solid. Of course, its just a PDF file and not a real book, but by giving it a graphical representation people will feel like it is worth more. I highly recommend getting a designer on 99Designs to make you something professional.

Remember, this is going to represent your whole brand. This final step is the part where the eBook baby is born. Now, I am not going to talk about how to sell an eBook because I really believe it giving them away for free. But if you want to learn about landing pages and sales have a look at this post. All eBooks are in PDF format. Because they are universally recognized by Macs and PCs alike and work on all eBook readers. They also provide a consistent output.

This is important. When you save a DOC file and send it to your friends chances are everyone will see something different. Not with a PDF. They all look the same. Now, you want to make sure you select the right zoom levels because sometimes it will save blurry.

It will all depend on your graphics and logos and how well you have created and saved them in Illustrator or Photoshop. Sometimes it is a good idea to get advice on this issue.

Try to keep it below 1MB if you can. The next step is to set up a system where people get delivered the eBook for free when they enter their email address in to your subscription form. Promoting your eBook is actually the bulk of the work. I highly recommend you follow this blogging strategy to help you understand the relationship between your website, mailing list and a successful eBook.

If you enjoyed this post you might like to check out: Which is Best? Great post! Thx for highlighting the steps to create an ebook. This post is a keeper. Thank you for the tips and best wishes from germany, tj. Thank you for great info. I have been wondering how to technically create an e-book.

Make an eBook: How to Easily Create a PDF eBook that Rocks

Greatly appreciated! It seems like a very effective way to promote your ebook.

Yeah it has been working pretty well. Thanks for the tip on Dreamstime. I never know where to get good images without paying an arm and a leg. Does Dreamstime take care of all the model sign-offs? I think mostly they do but I always check each photographer separately before using them commercially. Hi, First of all, well done. One particularly good point is the one about editing. No matter what the format, print or digital, your work reflects you and your business, so unless you want to be perceived as sloppy, make sure it is edited well.

As far as what could be added to your list, I may get some disagreement here, but I say do not to try to call something of pages an ebook as has also been done repeatedly over the years in internet marketing. With the advent of Kindle etc.

With that come the general perceptions of document length. Something as simple as knowing what people expect and then delivering or over delivering, goes a long way in making it a good one. I have to share my own experience. My ebook is VERY simple. So I made my ebook and just kind of let it sit there.

It was working for me, but not making magic. Then when I was going through the process of my re-design, my designer mentioned that we needed to make my ebook pop more and make it more of a selling point. So we created a little sidebar graphic and sign up form and OMG…in less then a month I increased my subscribers by several thousand.

But I do credit a lot of it to my ebook. Per our last email, you better read this. Like really embarrassingly crying. Worse than Kim Kardashian after five vials of filler. Everyone at work sucks, your boss is mean, the girls at work are petty, the coworker who ghosted you just got a promotion, and the only good thing your job has going for it are the office snacks.

You ask yourself, Can I get away with staying in here until p. I literally do not care about this job, why the fuck am I here? Does my career even matter? Seriously, no judgment; if anything, we fully respect your willingness to either spend your trust fund or to carry credit card debt so brazenly. Valuing yourself means, at least in part, that you should automatically invest a lot of thought in what you spend your waking hours doing and thinking about.

Work Hard Playlist Hard; an Ebook for streaming survival

We all have that friend who seems to float around for her entire twenties without any real direction and no apparent desire to change that. To each their own. Though, yes, we do feel strongly that LuAnn is going to change her ways after rehab. TBH that is so not for us, either. We run a company whose name is derived from the word bitches, so you know our office is not exactly the trading desk at Goldman Sachs. For real, though, we have a ton of respect for women who genuinely want to be full-time mothers and have the resources to do that.

We also realize that all three of us come from specific, pretty privileged backgrounds upper middle class, college educated, white, able-bodied and some of our advice cannot be taken by women in situations that are unlike our own.

Enjoy this book for its humor, reap the benefits of whatever advice might speak to you, and leave the rest behind.

Okay, now back to our very strong and important opinions. We mean taking online courses to invest in yourself if you hate what you do and want a career change, or reaching out to people who would otherwise be inaccessible strangers for advice or new career opportunities.

Not to sound lame or idealistic, but the internet contains so many more tools to help us do what we want to do and become what we want to be. We get it, we also just need to rewatch the entire series of The OC again. Once we realized that working and pursuing a goal was nothing like we had been taught in school see, school is the problem here, not us , our perspective drastically changed. If you set yourself up to do something that motivates you and that you actually find fulfilling, your career can be as empowering as the motivational posters have been saying all along.

The three of us met in elementary school in Roslyn, New York. Ebooks promote sameness with their incredibly limited font selection. This is hugely ironic given the ease with which so many other computer applications use different fonts. I have to admit I have a particular aversion to writing in my print books, and prefer to keep them in as pristine a condition as possible. But on occasion, I do like to underline passages that I want to refer back to again.

Other readers, however, are more wanton with their treatment of books and jot lots of detailed notes in the margins, underline large chunks of text, and otherwise do what they please with it. With ebooks, the most I can do is very neatly highlight passages using one of four different colors.

Since I've switched to reading ebooks at home my kids and my wife assume I'm surfing the internet and checking my LinkedIn notifications on my latest articles and updates. While that is partially true, I often have to show them that I'm in fact reading a book, a more noble and productive activity of course.

When I read print books it's immediately transparent what I am doing, and I like to think it sets a good example for my kids. Besides the crisp, delicate, yet firm feel of the pages of a book, I also like to take a gentle whiff of the thing. The memories and associations that are triggered by such an act are random and sudden, and that's why I like the sensation.

Sort of like getting a quick physical high from the scent of the book, before I've plunged in and gotten my intellectual high from the ideas and images within.

While I have a hard time ascribing specific descriptive adjectives to the smells that emanate from my hard and softcover books, a couple of very diligent researchers have recently figured out a way to systematically categorize and describe how books smell. In graduate school, one of our libraries displayed an original copy of the Gutenberg Bible in a glass-enclosed case.Which is Best?

What if I took those same terms and instead wrote a couple of paragraphs about each — still enough to fill out an ebook, but not so complete that it would compete with a full-fledged book on the paranormal when I try to sell it later on.

For some but not all! So we created a little sidebar graphic and sign up form and OMG…in less then a month I increased my subscribers by several thousand.

We were in a lot of the same classes, had a lot of the same friends, and all laughed at the same weird shit. Thank you!
