Date published: Rated 4 out of 5 by chloeah from a new favourite I really enjoyed this book for a multitude of reasons, but mainly the way Harper Lee writes.
The storyline and premise alone were enough to have me hooked on each chapter; wanting to know what was to happen next. I really like the metaphors she used within the plot, like the mocking bird: An innocent person beaten down by societal norms, much like an innocent mocking bird being shot. This book is narrated from an interesting perspective: a young girl growing up in a small Southern town with a naive image of human nature, learning and changing those views while earning knowledge from new experiences.
With its Southern charm comes the accent and dialect that I find just adds that much more to the writing.
However, if you aren't familiar with Alabamian speech patterns from that era, it can become confusing and a little annoying having to re-read over and over or interrupt your yourself to look up certain words which can affect the flow of your reading. Over-all it's a really good read that I would suggest best suitable for a dedicated reader who's willing to stick through the parts that seem to drag on a bit because, in the end, it's worth it.
To Kill A Mockingbird Enhanced Ebook
Personally, I liked this book because I felt absorbed in it while reading. The characters were really prominent, memorable and also well written; how descriptive the writing is and how well it's presented through the point of view of Jean Louise Finch Scout made sure that every new chapter would be an interesting read.
I would definitely recommend the book for many reasons.
The book acts as an anti-racist expose on the inequality and prejudices that black people were dealing with at the time period in which the story takes place during the great depression. The book is also astonishingly well written, with stellar word selection as well as some of the most descriptive writing I've ever come across.
The language used also very well represents the characters speaking them and comes off as very natural and believable considering when and where this story took place. Another feature of this book is its unique perspective on racism through the eyes of Scout, and how the things she's exposed to cause her and her perspective to grow and change throughout the course of the story.

I felt as though this was very well done, and given that it was paired with a liberal usage of clever figurative language, I had to give this book my recommendation. I feel as though the kind of person who would enjoy this book the most would be someone with an open mind towards racially charged topics and an appreciation for unique and clever writing.

She also learns that everybody deserves to be treated with dignity and to receive justice, no matter what their skin color. People said he existed, but Jem and I had never seen him. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
With Scout, particularly, there is an element of gender identity at play that leads into a larger discussion about class and society. When I was almost six and Jem was nearly ten, our summertime boundaries within calling distance of Calpurnia were Mrs.
