Vicious is the explosive conclusion to Sara Shepard's #1 New York Times bestselling Pretty Little Liars series, perfect for fans of the hit ABC Family original TV.
What a coincidence! Nick gives them some cryptic clue about his Grandma Betty in Cape May, and the girls rush off in hot pursuit of a resident named Barbara Maxwell, since apparently Betty is short for Barbara now? Much like Emily, who suddenly takes it into her head to walk into the sea and drown herself, and promptly disappears. I guess they really want to see the back of her. The remaining PLLs promptly fall out with each other, since they are a bunch of babies.
Meanwhile Aria sensibly decides to run away to Paris to escape the trial. In an even stupider move, Hanna agrees to marry Mike even though he proposes with a lacrosse bracelet rather than an engagement ring, and more significantly is a pathetic child and has no business getting married.
Instead we have to endure pages of gushing over bridal gowns and wedding-cake tastings, which seems to me to be taking focus away from the ongoing murder trial somewhat. Why would all the involved parents sign paperwork agreeing that two year-olds who have been dating for a matter of months can get married just before one of them potentially goes to gaol for life?
The whole thing is beyond a joke. Yet more stupidity, as Aria inconspicuously takes a taxi from Paris to Amsterdam to continue lying low, before checking into a hostel using her own ID. It then turns out that Noel has magically predicted exactly where Aria will be, just outside the only Amsterdam tourist attraction Shepard has bothered to look up, and times things perfectly to bump into her.
In other irrelevant love-life news, Melissa and Darren are engaged and going to have a baby? Why the hell should I care about that? Even the lawyer seems to have better things to do, judging by how ill-informed he is on the case. This proves that Spencer has learnt absolutely nothing from the whole surrogate-mother-con-artist debacle.
Aria and Noel are swiftly captured by Interpol due to the fact that they are moronic. We also find out that Hanna is being married by a rabbi. Are the Marins Jewish? When did this happen? The wedding itself is tasteless, sentimental crap which takes up far too many pages. It would be literally impossible to pick a more banal series of subjects. The whole bizarre multiple-murder-fake-identity-secret-twin-trial-of-the-century thing seems to be barely on the radar of either the characters or the author.
Eventually Shepard gets bored of soppy crap and we rush to the courthouse for the verdict, which the jury have suddenly reached on a Sunday morning. She seems to be the only one they have anything on, even if it is only a video of her looking a bit shouty and smashing stuff. Emily's roommate wants her to pull the plug on her Aria's always been eccentric, but she's downright batty now.
And inquiring family members want to know where she hid the Montgomery-Kahn fortune. And Hannah needs to keep her sticky little fingers off the crash cart meds.
How do I know? Because even though these ladies are older, they're not any wiser. And if I have anything to say about it, these little liars aren't going to go gently in the good night. Can someone just please take one for the team and just tell me all of the important parts and how it ends? Because as much as I would like to stop wasting my precious reading time on this series, this final book will stop me from living out my life and haunt me until I die.
But probably until I die. Ivy This answer contains spoilers… view spoiler [ in case you were still wondering After being in prison for like a day they get taken out of jail and plot twist! Pretty Little Liars: An Abridged Version: The end. View all 23 comments. May 29, Kendra marked it as to-read. It's really annoying how people complain how long the series has gotten. Just shut up, because you don't have to read the damn books.
If you don't like it, don't read it. It's as simple as that. View all 16 comments. May 10, hayden marked it as to-not-read. I've done it, you guys. It's done. I've finally given up on the Pretty Little Liars franchise. I bet even Shepard herself is getting depressed over the amount of story that is missing from the series. The eighth book definitely should've been the last one.
I'm so proud of myself for finally giving up.
In other news I've done it, you guys. View all 40 comments. May 05, Geraldine O'Hagan rated it did not like it. This is it. The promised land. The dream realised. The actual end of the PLL series. Please let it be so. She wondered if he still smoked. How thrilling! I forgot. Aria needs to get over the whole murder-trial thing.
Okay, it was big news. Surely that should pull the limelight right back to you? Well, that was a massive anti-climax. No questions whatsoever are answered. Everyone forgets that Jason ever existed.

Alison, the most Machiavellian human being to have ever existed, is caught because she leaves her address lying around and hides with her own mother using her own surname. My blog post review https: I can't believe this series is over, after 16 books I don't think i'll ever read a series bigger than this in my whole life haha It's honestly so strange to be sitting here writing my last ever review for the PLL books, unless more are added of course.
We all know what Sara Shepard is capable of, hahaha, but My blog post review https: We all know what Sara Shepard is capable of, hahaha, but really, I don't think I'd be opposed to more books Let's get into the juicy stuff This book was a lot less creepy and suspenseful than all the others, which kind of sucked, but oh well.
I feel like this book wasn't quite as good as it could've been, yet I still really enjoyed it nonetheless. It was definitely not the bets book in the series, but just because it's the last, I guess I automatically had semi-high kind of expectations, especially since the final book in Sara Shepard other series, The Lying Game was so amazing. The view spoiler [wedding hide spoiler ] with Hanna and Mike was the sweetest thing ever, and I'm so happy that it was incorporated into the novel, as these two have been my favourite couple throughout the entire series.
I loved how all the character arcs were wrapped up in the end, they all left me with a big smile on my face, and I'm so happy for the girls, and that they can now move on with their lives. Overall thoughts on the Pretty Little Liars: For me, Spence was one of my favourites out of the liars, if not my favourite throughout the first half of the series, up until I started to lose interest in her story, as it became increasingly less interesting throughout the course of the series.
I'm so happy that she and Melissa turned out to be so close towards the end. The only thing I'm a little iffy on is who Spencer ended up with, I don't actually remember if I liked him or not, seeing as he's been absent from the series since the early books.
Oh Em, she was my least favourite character for so long, up until the second half-ish of the series, when she just went through some incredible character development. She became so interesting to read about, and I actually found myself wanting more and more of her chapters.
01. Pretty Little Liars
I'm so sad that she view spoiler [didn't end up with Jordan hide spoiler ] , because I loved them together so much. However, I love how her story wrapped up, she become so strong, and totally shut down Ali, whenever she tried to torture her about Em's 'love' for her. She is a character that I found not to have much change throughout the series, and I enjoyed her stories throughout pretty much the whole series.
I love her with view spoiler [Noel hide spoiler ] , and I'm so happy they ended up together, even through all their difficulties. Ahh, she is my favourite character. I love Hanna so much, and will miss her the most.
I'm SO happy that her story ended the way it did, I couldn't have asked for anything better. Hanna constantly had the most interesting storylines, and kept me on my toes all the time.
I just love Hanna's character! I'm glad she got what was coming for her, and I would love to see another book about Ali sometime in the future, as I loved the Ali's Pretty Little Lies prequel novel. This was a satisfying ending to this amazing series, however I do feel like it was left a little open ended, even though it was sworn to be the last book in the series.
I'll miss these characters, and these books so much, and this series will forever hold a special, very large the size of 16 books place in my heart Thank you, Ms Shepard, for another incredible series, I can't thank you enough Order of PLL books from fav to least fav: Wanted 2. You can do it! There will seriously be a riot if you don't. I think the Internet might explode Because this is the last one, it's going to be randomly emo now??? At least the title hasn't changed to something weird Has everyone seen the new book Shepard is writing? You know, just to screw with us more.
The c Alright Sara Shepard, let's end this! The cover looks almost the same too, except no Barbie dolls. I think it is agreed that this time around I'll b reading her series via the library. Because if it carries out to 16 books I might scream After Reading: Well, you'll love this book if you're a fan.
Seriously, it has the highest stakes, some stupid moves done by the girls, and some happy endings you'll absolutely love. I love how some of the characters from the first few books came back and you get to see their new lives. I was a little annoyed that the last few pages insinuated the possibility of more books because Ali is an evil mastermind.
It was an entertaining and easy read, so if you haven't gotten to this book yet, maybe reconsider?
But no one will hate you if you didn't finish this series. View all 5 comments. Nov 12, Mallory rated it it was amazing Shelves: And for reals this time, this book is the end of the road for these ladies.
At least that's what the author says. But who knows? Seriously, I could read about 50 more books in this series. I'm having a hard time letting go: This book had me all over the place.
There was murder, intrigue, a court hearing, jail, suicide, fleeing the law and aiding and abetting. I know that's nothing new to the PLL series, but usually not all in the same boo 5 PLL stars I am legitimately sad to see this series end. I know that's nothing new to the PLL series, but usually not all in the same book. I was in PLL Heaven and so freaking juiced to see how it would all end. It may have taken 16 books, but the pretty little liars finally get some closure and some happiness.
There are new people introduced, and some old characters coming back to make things interesting. Aria has always been my favorite PLL, and she made some major moves this final book. As for Hanna, Spencer and Emily They made choices that they would never have thought about in previous books.
This has been a hell of a journey, but I'm so glad I made it through to the other side! View all 11 comments. O I'm now I thought over all this book was a good ending to the series although I did have issues with a few things.
We got closure, but at the same time that's an open ending. Kind of annoying, but whatever. I also didn't like the idea of Hanna and Mike getting married. I like them as a couple, but teenage marriages are jus It's so crazy to think I've been reading this series since I was fourteen! I like them as a couple, but teenage marriages are just ridiculous.

View 1 comment. Jun 20, Cassie McPherron rated it it was amazing. If this ends with all of them dead or in jail I'm going to be a very unhappy reader Update: I'm glad to finally have closure on the never ending questions these books led me to have but some questions are still unanswered. I'm relieved that the girls were able to finally conquer Ali and they out of Rosewood.
So long Pretty Lit If this ends with all of them dead or in jail I'm going to be a very unhappy reader Update: So long Pretty Little Liars it's been a great journey and I'll miss you. Good riddance to these characters and this series! It amazes me that the author managed to write a 16 book series with characters who aren't really likable.
And OMG that ending. I just I think I'm just speechless at the ridiculousness at this point. Ok quick recap - at the end of the last book the girls were arrested for killing Ali based on police finding blood, Ali's tooth, and a journal written by Ali at the pool house the girls were stalking.
Now the girls are about to go to tri Good riddance to these characters and this series! Now the girls are about to go to trial but not before some more hi-jinks ensue!
But is she really dead?
Pretty sure you can figure out the answer to that Spencer: And also meets with a sketchy ex-inmate in an attempt to learn how to adjust to prison life.
Ultimately, this ends with her stealing her mothers jewelry in an effort to buy a new identity from said ex-inmate. Puppy dog Noel follows and finds her in Amsterdam and then they are soon caught by Interpol and dragged back to Rosewood for the trial. This book could have been combined with the previous book and would have been fine. There was a lot of filler information that I just didn't care about. And the epilogue of sorts was over the top.
The author said in her acknowledgements that this is the end, but we've heard that before so who knows. Maybe Ali will escape and terrorize the girls all the way to old age.
But for me, I am done. Should have just stuck to the TV show. View all 6 comments. Aug 24, Linnea added it. She wrote another one! And don't judge me for being happy that the series is never-ending.
At least I can admit it. C'mon people. No matter how many times you post how much it "sucks" that Sara Shepard wrote another book, we all know that if you see the latest book in a library or bookstore, you will pick it up, sit down, and read it. There are going to be more of these! I'm out, people. There is a limit to which I can take stupidity and I've reached it. May 28, Paula rated it liked it. That cannot be the last book. That ending was totally setting up a book 17! Aug 21, Autumn marked it as to-read. I'm starting to think Alison is A. Does any one else think that? May 11, Therese rated it really liked it Shelves: A very satisfying conclusion to the series! I'm glad I stuck with it to the end.
Jul 30, Hannah rated it really liked it Shelves: This is the last one, God is real. It's finally over.
Holy fuck. I can't believe I have been reading these since they first came out when I was I still remember reading the first book within two hours on a family road trip to Boston. I remember finishing the last page and thinking 'holy fuck! This better be a series! It can't end like this! And then when it became a tv show I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Five seasons later I still love the show, I love the show more than the books. I like the route the show is going and plus I like that the four liars are actually good friends in the show.
In the books it took seven books for them to start trusting eachother I've come to the conclusion that I am not going to rate this book. It's not a horrible ending, but it's also not the brilliant ending I was hoping for.Noel ainda parecia em conflito.
Ela tentou de novo — sem sorte. Ele digitou algo no iPad. Otherwise, this entire book was just a filler until the end.
