I think Sara Shepard deserves a round of applause for being able to maintain a great series after so many books. Get a free e-book from Book perk. But this series is by far one of my favourites, NOT just because I like the tv show. I love comments so never be afraid to leave one! However, they are shocked when the police find her corpse buried in the gazebo of her former house. This particular instalment, I found a little boring, and not much was happening in any of the girls stories.

The girls all know him as someone else. View all 5 comments.

Then they wonder why they keep getting screwing over! Emily's exploring her wild side. Hanna's kissing the enemy. And someone from Spencer's past - someone she never thought she'd see again - is back to haunt her. But none of that compares to what happened last spring break.

It's their darkest secret yet, and guess who found out? Now A is determined to make them pay for their crime, and the only thing scarier than A is the fear that maybe, just maybe, they deserve what's coming to them.. So, after finishing reading this book, i recommend to readers to not underestimate this great book.

Because she's beautiful and foreign, people see her as a whore first and foremost. And Aria does, too. But then she gets to know her, or thinks she does, and Klaudia is actually nice. Of course, this is an act. Klaudia is a whore, fake accent and all, and steals Aria's boyfriend who I still don't get why she's with anyway.

Boring Ezra comes back, and he's written his perfect book about his love for Aria and their story. God, the guy gets so obnoxious about his book being great and Aria not liking it. And, of course, after a fight with Aria she finds Ezra and Klaudia making out. He and Aria have a whirlwind re-romance where she decides its best to up and move away with him. But he suspects she doesn't really like his book; so they break up and she goes back to Noel, who of course missed her terribly and claims all the rumours about him and Klaudia hooking up were false.

Emily falls madly in love with this girl Kelsey, who just so happens to be an old friend of Spencers whom she got sent to juvie by having Hanna plant drugs in her room, even though Spencer was high on the drugs herself. Kelsey is the "New A" of this book, who turns out not to be A after all. Hanna says often how awful the place is; makes me wonder why all these rich girls still go there.

But maybe that's just because Hanna couldn't get her hair blown out and isn't allowed manicures. Back to Emily for a second, it was revealed in the last book she had an unplanned pregnancy, stayed with her sister in her college dorm to hide it from her parents, and then gave the baby away. Firstly, I'm positive A knows about this and we're just waiting until another book vomits itself out before Emily starts freaking that people will find out. She had a job working at a cafe, met some guy there and told him her troubles, its not like she was in utter hiding the whole time and only came out once.

And her sister Melissa agrees to let her stay with her and keep her secret, but she is an unbelievable bitch. Spencer gets with this Yale drama guy she initially hates and all the girls fawn over, no surprise that they hook up there.

And then he kinda turns on her at the end when he sees her and Kelsey fight; you'd think he'd take the side of the girl who he's been fawning over for the whole book, helping her with her lines, etc. But no, he sides with stranger! Everyone and everything in these books are stereotypes. From the 'perfectly, manicured lawns', to the lines of "thank God I'd just had my hair blown out. I don't feel bad for any of them, especially when they drown their sorrows by spending hundreds on massages, facials, manicures, shopping sprees, high-class lunches, etc.

Yawn, how awful it is to be so pretty, rich and popular. By the way, I get that's supposed to be the irony of these books, that these girls are perfect but still have issues.

But it never comes across to me. The girls certainly don't have that much guilt over what they've done, partying, dating, shopping all still have a place in their supposedly horrible lives. Anyway, my main issue with these books hasn't changed. These girls don't learn. At all. They continue to keep secrets, and continue to throw other people under the bus, like Kelsey, and are still surprised when they come to the realization that maybe Kelsey is a little mad at them.

Ruthless: Number 10 in series (Pretty Little Liars) por Sara Shepard

I think there's one or two, maybe three of these left. I've come this far, I'll finish it. But I have a feeling I won't like the payoff.

Right now, I'm so mad at all the girls I'm hoping they're all just sent to jail. Sep 20, Diane rated it it was ok.

I read the first 8 books of the Pretty Little Liars series and relatively enjoyed myself. It was suspenseful, scary, and mysterious, however also a little bit risque and nothing I would allow my teenage daughter to read, Young Adult status or no. So, I decided I would give the next set of books a try Shepard meant to end at 8, but then with all the hype surrounding the TV show, she got some fresh "ideas" and decided to give it another go.

Well, she should have ended at 8. Now the books are taki I read the first 8 books of the Pretty Little Liars series and relatively enjoyed myself. Now the books are taking on the taste of fan fiction which is kind of awkward given that it is in fact written by the same author.

The four liars have no integrity, backbone, or sense of ethics and they have a penchant for making friends that turn out to be clinically insane and brazen enough to try and kill them. Sadly though, I will continue to read because I am now 10 books invested, they are fast reads, and I am behind on my goal to read 40 books this year, so hopefully this will catch me back up. Wish me luck Of course you're going to see the fangirls out there who will rate this book five stars just because its a PLL book.

I will be honest, i loved all 9 books. They were full of suspense and lots of juicy secrets. This time, not so much. It read more like a story. There's no "wow" moment and no great cliff hanger. Maybe she ran out of ideas.

Pretty Little Liars #10: Ruthless

Her contract still has mor Of course you're going to see the fangirls out there who will rate this book five stars just because its a PLL book. Her contract still has more books so i'm hoping shes not rushing these. Another thing i'm sick of is the repeating. I know all about Ali, i know about about Emily being called Killer etc! It's as if Sara forgot we read the other books. Its a waste of ink and page numbers to repeat yourself so many times. Just because this book wasn't as great, it won't stop me from finishing the series.

Crossing my fingers for a better book next time. At A Glance Genre: Cliff Hanger: YES Rating: Score Sheet All out of ten Cover: Mystery is at an all time high! Worst Part: So much insta love! Overall Feels Felt: Who are you!

Conclusion Continuing the Series: Buddy read! Short Review: This book killed me for lots of reasons. Fo At A Glance Genre: For one, these girls throw themselves at everyone in this book for some reason. Then they wonder why they keep getting screwing over! Maybe because youre too damn trusting and you don't seem to think anything through!

I loved the new girl, Kelsey. She added to this story greatly! I was really convinced on who was A in this book, but the last page proved me wrong! Took me less then a day to read this book! Once again I really enjoyed it! Plenty of twist plots characters are always developing. Really liked the ending to this novel very good. It's great that Sara Shepard is still able to captivate the readers 10 books into a series.

She's met her target audience with these books the books are way better tried watching the TV show but found it was too dragged out and I didn't like the way the characters were portrayed in the show I just prefer if they didn't Took me less then a day to read this book! She's met her target audience with these books the books are way better tried watching the TV show but found it was too dragged out and I didn't like the way the characters were portrayed in the show I just prefer if they didn't change the story and stuck with Sara shepards ideas with certain characters!

I would highly recommend reading the books very easy to read!

Mar 06, Jen rated it did not like it Shelves: I give up on this crapfest series. I'll wait until she ends it to google who "A" is I think the books have gotten consistently worse.

I'm floored by the rolling exposition from previous books I read them already, I don't need constant recap , what giant assholes the main characters are, and the product placement every line for some other designer. Not to mention the Shakespeare parallels in this installment; undeserved.

I just don't get why I should care about any of them. The eff. Care I give up on this crapfest series. View all 4 comments. Dec 19, Mayari Mendoza mendez rated it liked it. This book was so frustating, Emily was so annoying xc. Why Klaudia wants all the Aria's boyfriends?

She's a whore: I like the end because Noel was so sweet: Dec 09, Nicole rated it really liked it. So bottomline is Ezra is a jerk and Aria belongs with Noel hands down. So basically the girls go on vacation some shit goes down and they all fall apart and basically are not friends anymore.

Seems like most of these girls are fake. Emily seriously drives me nuts. Feb 06, Paula Phillips rated it it was amazing. I'm pretty surprised that they are still using the doll-like covers for Sara Shepard's latest Pretty Little Liar books as I know that once the series was released on TV they changed the covers of the first 8 books but books have reverted back to the doll characters which we discover the relevance of the dolls at the end of the PLL show before it went on it's small hiatus.

Back to book world though of Pretty Little Liars , we remember in Book 9 Twisted how the girls killed Tabitha Clark thinking that she was Ali and now in Book 10 the secret of that is at large. In Book 10 Ruthless , Hanna's dad Tom is nearing his way into the Senator's seat for his campaign and the election - when Hanna makes a suggestion to hit the local colleges , it all goes well and she even meets a hunky boy - Liam but it turns out that Liam is hiding a secret , he is the son of her dad's biggest rival Tucker Wilkinson.

Is this to be a Romeo and Juliet like relationship? Will "A" or Kate be the one to spill the beans to her dad before Hanna can put a stop to things?

At the end of Book 9 , we read about Aria breaking up with Noel Kahn over Noel's seductive and lying foreign exchange student Klaudia. All Aria wants is her life back and to be happy again , the last time she was happy was with teacher Ezra Fitz.

We read the arrival of Ezra , but will Aria get her happy ever after with Mr. Fitz or will Klaudia stick her claws into him too. Will Klaudia succeed in taking over Aria's life and having exactly what Aria wants? Who will Aria end up with by the end of the novel - Mr. Fitz or Noel Kahn? Spencer , has just returned home after a stint at the Penn State Summer Programme just before starting college.

However, over the summer Spencer and her roommate Kelsey got caught up in something bad - drugs called "Easy A". Last, but not least is Emily , ready to start anew -her older sister Beth is home and decides to take Emily on the town.

Emily meets a girl named Kay , who she begins to get close too but Kay is not what she seems as she knows more about Emily and her friends than she is letting on - she knows about Jamacia and Spencer.

Who is Kay and what will happen when she has Emily wrapped around her little finger? Will it be bye, bye to Emily Fields and the foursome become a threesome? Apr 17, Samantha rated it it was amazing Shelves: Oh, the delightful, ridiculous escapism of a Pretty Little Liars novel! I don't know what it says about me or the rest of this series' fan base that we like to escape to the fictitious world of Rosewood, Pennsylvania where backstabbing, deceit, and murder reign supreme.

But who cares? Sara Shepard's novels are a delicious getaway to the land of the rich and miserable and these are books I've been hooked on for years. Ruthless is the tenth installment in the series. It picks up a couple of weeks Oh, the delightful, ridiculous escapism of a Pretty Little Liars novel! It picks up a couple of weeks from where Twisted left off. Aria, Spencer, Emily, and Hanna are still rocked by guilt because they murdered a girl in Jamaica last spring break.

They're still tormented by a new A who knows all their secrets and is determined to make them pay. The psychological drama in this book was good, with all of the girls being tormented by hallucinations brought on by guilt and having trouble functioning in their lives. Shepard cleverly drew a parallel between their guilt and the guilt of murderers in Shakespeare's Macbeth by having Macbeth be the play Rosewood Day is putting on for the spring performance.

Aside from the guilt and blackmail, there are the usual juicy scandals. Ezra Fitz is back in Aria's life and sweeping her off her feet once again. Spencer's drug-riddled summer where she ended up betraying a friend is back to haunt her-and possibly thwart her dreams of attending Princeton in the fall. Hanna is falling in love with the worst guy possible.

And Emily can't stay away from a girl with a wild side who might be a little too much like Ali. The pace was fast and there were red-herrings and plot twists galore. Even though A has been revealed to the reader twice over the course of the series, Shepard made the same old premise of the evil, unidentified blackmailer intriguing once again.

These books have a formula but it's a formula that works. Ruthless was highly entertaining and I was always hoping that the heroines would get away with covering up their dirty secrets. There's a great twist at the end that left me excited for the eleventh installment. I think Sara Shepard deserves a round of applause for being able to maintain a great series after so many books. This was without doubt the 'this series has jumped the shark' book and the last one that I am going to look at.

The plot has just gone a bit mental, the girls aren't just dumb bitches-they are horrible psycho bitches and I don't really care who the latest 'A' is. It has just got to that point and spoils the memory of those first eight gripping books with characters that you liked.

So what are the bitches up to now? Quick sum up with spoilers? Aria has welcomed back the waste of space Ezra after be This was without doubt the 'this series has jumped the shark' book and the last one that I am going to look at. Aria has welcomed back the waste of space Ezra after being dumped by Noah. He's even written a book about their 'affair'. I'm assuming it's one of those 4 page ebooks you get free online Her taste in men is pathetic. Emily manages to hook up with the girl in the book who rightfully has a grudge against Spencer.

You have to hand it to Emily. She has the amazing vanishing gay thing that she switches on and off each book and only seems attracted to female nutters. We also find out more about her amazing vanishing baby which she seems to have no guilt over yet is still mourning Alison and dead girls that she didn't kill. Spencer gets into college despite her new drug habit by framing her friend as a drug dealer and getting her put behind bars.

Nice girl you are turning into. Spencer was my favourite in the first story arc but she is turning into a nasty selfish bitch-everything she said she hated about Melissa. Funny that. And Hanna has confessed to Daddy about her blackmail thing, stealing his money and setting up an innocent man-so he wants to get her more involved in his campaign.

Of course he does. She's proving herself to be his daughter now, sticking the boot into people for Daddy.

It drives me mad to see her having to keep winning his love and approval but I love seeing her get one over Kate! As usual the girls have no clue who the latest 'A' is and manage to jump to every wrong conclusion possible. But I'm afraid I'm done with the series now. It was fun for a while but now As raparigas continuam a agir ingenuamente, como se nada as pudesse atingir, envolvendo-se em cada vez mais mentiras, mentindo para encobrir mentiras anteriores.

Oct 07, Sarah rated it really liked it Shelves: I own a copy of this book. Ali, Courtney, and Tabitha are all dead. Spencer did some naughty things over the summer, and Hanna has more confessions to make to her father. Or has she just been waiting for the right time to strike, again?I loved this book just like the other books in the series. Aria's love life is on the fritz.

I think that this book would appeal most to teenage girls between ages The plot has just gone a bit mental, the girls aren't just dumb bitches-they are horrible psycho bitches and I don't really care who the latest 'A' is. I don't reccommend this if you're just starting the series, you have to read the other nine books to get a true sense of what's going on.

I'm very interested in how the last two books will tie into the story and I can't wait to find out who the third A is, bring it on! Aug 1. There were some twists, both obvious and not, and there was mystery.
