Date published: Rated 3 out of 5 by Brysonite from Sadly not as good as previous titles Probably really only of interest to die-hard Bryson readers, or at least I wouldn't recommend anyone unfamiliar with him to start with this book; there seems to be a lot less humour, and what's there is generally quite dark.

I worry that the head injury he mentions at the beginning has had more of an effect than he realises. His stamina is impressive and his observations sometimes tart, but he shows an underlying intelligence, reverence, and compassion.

Am buying copies for 3 friends, all Brits.
